Re: How will the 2003 Tiburon be as a rally car?

I wonder how long they can stick with the older model Tiburon, I'm sure Hyundai has some say as they sponsor them. The AWD system was from the HCD concepts, the new Tib doesn't stem from those as far as I can tell.

Actually, it uses the AWD system from a Lancer EVO IV, our chassis are practically the same.
Now dont go looking at the US spec Lancer, its a POS and does not even use the same engine as the real one. Close example would be the Mirage which was originaly the US spec Lancer, I actually have seen people convert Mirages to EVO Lancer wannabes.
My guess is they wont go with the new tiburon based on the fact, the car would need to be modified for rally spec, and may fall in a different class just based on engine size and chassis size, also I cannot think of a car that is about the same size as the new tiburon for which they could adapt the AWD system from.
At the moment, My guess is that the current rally tiburon, is really the original chassis they have always had, they basically changed the hood and front and rear bumpers to give it the new 2nd gen look.
