Default MOVED: interesting dilemma

my baby just failed its MOT on nothing more than track rod ends and a wheel bearing, however it was noticed that the clearance on my back tyres against my shock absorbers on one side was about 1mm and the other side the tyre was brushing the leg of the shock.

i have got 195/50/15's fitted all round, what could be the cause of this

btw have cured it by slapping 10mm shims on the back wheels

how could this occur?
