Is the difference enough to warrant a swap? Has anyone tested the limits of the 1.6 block? I'm just wondering if its more beneficial to keep the lighter 1.6 and turbo it to higher hp numbers rather then swap in the beta. Seems like for less trouble you could still have quite a fast car with a turbo 1.6, at least as fast as the cost of installing a beta. I'm just curious if anyone out there has tested the limits of the block or what horsepower you guys with turbo setups are laying down and any info or opinions anyone else has on this topic.

You can turbo or supercharge any engine. I prefer to have a blower than a turbo because there is no lag on the power. It also is less stressful on the heads because the pressures vary little. A turbo has little or no boost at idle or slight throttle, but increases a lot under heavy pedal use.
