Re: 2.0 Swap or Turbo 1.6
Kirk what I mean is, one or the other basically. I mean ok, you could spend the same amount of money swapping in the beta as you would building a turbo kit for it or at least its close. Then assuming your going to turbo the beta, the amount of money used for the turbo kit ontop of the money used for the beta swap could be used to make the internals of the 1.6 better for higher boost. You see what i'm saying? So for the money it will cost for swapping in the beta and getting it tuned, then turboing it, is it MORE worth it to just spend all that money on fixing up internals and boosting the hell out of the 1.6? Especially since there is only about 30hp difference between the motors? I mean yes if you looking for insane boost like 500+hp the beta is definetly probably the best way to go, but most of us will never see that. Plus my second question was has anyone tested the strength of the 1.6 block? How much boost can it handle? How much horsepower can ya push with it? Could it be used as another tuning motor? Now that all accents in the US are 1.6 and hyundai is pushing the 1.6 maybe its possible? So the real question is basically, its beta swap cost vs turbo cost, or beta swap and beta turbo vs alpha turbo and reworked internals for boost? Which is worth it in your guys opinion...for me i'd say the alpha because it seems like you could do more with the money it would cost for the swap instead of doing the swap itself and then turboing. Just incase you were wondering why I didn't include things like the differentials or tranny's that would need to be reworked is simply because either way if you just swap the motor in you can leave the accent close to stock without too much hassle, and both turbo options are gonna require you to change the suspension, differentials etc to accomodate the hp, so I just left that out.
Oh yeah and btw CCL I didn't mean CAN you turbo it, I KNOW you can turbo it or supercharge it, my point was which do you think is more cost efficient?
