Default Re: Thoughts about mufflers...

Since your car is N/A.
You should'nt go any larger than 1/2" more than the stock exhaust diameter.
eg. If you have piping of 2.0" OD (outside diameter) don't go any larger than 2.5"OD
You could also just go 1/4", 3/8" more. Going to large will hurt your cars performance.

Go either 3/8 or 1/2" larger since your engine is 2.7 liter. I'm not sure which would be better.

As far as a muffler:
I would advise against getting a strait through designed muffler eg. cherry bomb
A STD (strait through design) will give you maximum performance @ WOT (wide open throttle) and only at WOT.

You will lose torque at low rpms due to, too much of a decrease in back pressure.
They also sound weed-whacker-ish.....but if you like that kind of thing.

For normal driving you would be best off getting another muffler design (something that is not STD)

These have more back pressure than a STD (but less than your factory muffler)which will give you more power through the low/mid range rpm's. Instead of just at WOT.
These however will make less power at WOT than a STD muffler.

Thats the compromise you have to live with.

The choice is up to you......hope this helped.
