since I didn't have a grinder, I had to do it manually so it took about an hour. I had cut the shaft about 2 to 2 1/2" and shaved the ball stop to fit the universal shifter knob. It came with 3 allen wrench screws. The best way to cut it is use a grinder. It's not a very hard job. If you get a grinder, it'll take about 10-15 min to do all the job plus installing the shifter back.
