The pulse generator is the sensor that makes the transmission shift. It is a 2 part assembly located on the transmission.
However, there is a tsb on file regarding the fault code. It tells dealers to replace the reed switch (which is also connected to the pulse generator) at the same time the pg assembly is replaced. The reed switch is the link between the ECM and TCM.
