I haven't taken my headlamps apart yet....I attempted it once to get the reflectors out...but I used a heat gun (industrial tool for working with adhesive and metal) and warped the rear of my driver's headlamp a little.

After the attempt with the heat gun, I just used the bulb hole.

To open them up you can use a normal blowdryer (for hair).

Note, use masking tape to mask off the turn signal area. Like ssraccent did:
