If they are spinning their tires alot, as described above, that means that the tread will wear down much much faster.

I would agree that you are best off getting new wheels if you want better preformance. My GL came with 14" wheels with Toyo 185/60/14. The rear tires are still the same ones with not a whole lot of wear, but with all my spinning over the course of a year I had to get new tires for the front.

I also have a front strut bar which descresed the front body roll and which in turn decreased the rear sway. But for better handling a rear sway bar or rear strut bar will help alot.
