Default Importing from US

Keep in mind that if you import a car from the US you will have to pay duty 6.1% if the vehicle was not manufactured in the US. GST when you bring it over the border (only monday to friday) plus RIV fee of around $207. You will also need to install daytime running lights and get a provincial inspection. Then you need to take it Canadian Tire to get the federal inspection (free). When you register the vehicle you will have to pay PST. Still if you want to do the work you will save around 15%.
Alternatively there are dealers in Ontario who will do all the legwork and still save you around 10%+/-.
