their are a few things that come to mind on this problem
it sounds like your alt just took a crap but their may be other problems
most people that put a system in their car don't do it correctly and either don't fuse the power cord or they don't put a protective groment arround the hole that your power cable comes through at if so then your hot cable could be grounding out on your bodywork.
also even though a fuse isen't popped it may be bad this has happened twice on my car but mainly due to the trunk mounted battery.
keep us updated on what the dealer finds
