You can change it. Only difference is in injectors (2.0 have larger) and ECU. Cluth is different but changeable between 2.0 and 1.6 (pressure plate is stronger in 2.0). Gearbox is shorter in 1.6 (same rpm is low speed on 1.6 gearbox compared 2.0 gearbox, so you will have better acceleration than stock 2.0). Headers are same and intake manifold too. So you can take out your 1.6 engine and put in 2.0 engine. All engine sensors are same. Cooling is same.

Block of 1.6 engine is totally indentical to 2.0 engine block. It has only enclosure (inset, inlay, pad, lining,....) with narrower perforation (boring, drilling.....) So I think it is easier remove whole engine againts replacing crank, rods and piston. Camshafts are different too so You will have to remove them too not only crank, rods and pistons
