I would just stick with the manufacture recommend. I have never played with the gap.

You can have the parts guys measure the gap while you're there. There' are different kinds of gauges, from the coin gap measurement to the feeler measurement. They both work, but the feeler one is the most accurate. Parts guys usually dont mind gapping the plugs as long as they're not busy
