Default 17's on a '98 Excel

After lowering my ride I've decided to go all out and buy big mags. Chromies don't look too good my car so I'm going for alloys. Only problem is I want my car to be fully legal......that is, insurance will only cover me to 17x6, and the ones ive picked are 17x7. Bummer hey. Its a shame they dont make 17x6's, so it looks like I'm gunna have to get 16x6, or not have my car insured properly and have the 17x7. I'll put the before and after pic up later.
Any other info on big mags + insurance + the excel will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

insurance must be different in aus, but i don't see why they wouldn't cover the 17x7's?? that's odd.

Would you have to modify your arches, for the alloys to fit and work properly without any scrubing?

Yeah in Oz my insurance mob let u have and inch more than ur stock wheels, so i think i can go as wide as 6.5"............the mag shop i was getting the 17's from said the rear might need to be rolled and lipped and they dont take any responsiblity for cracked paint!!!!!!! They make 17x7 but not 17x6 here so thats a bit of a bitch.........if u want big mags u gotta pay the price ($$$$$ and non-insurance!!)
