Default Re: One final question before i purchase..

97 accent gs auto. 83k miles and counting. I drive 102 miles round trip to work at 70-85mph. Only problems have been

ROTORS! - Damm they warp easy. about $40 at parts store
AC condensor 82k - 50 bucks at junkyard, $25 freon (dealer cost 309 for parts only)
Timing Belt 82k - 400 at dealer haha, or $35 part and about 1.5 hours work by me
AT service 82k - again 200 dealer or $15 filter w/gasket and about 1 hour work
Tires, brakes, battery, plugs, wires, filters and oil. overall real cheap to operate.

I drive the crap out of this car and it has never let me down.

I recently rolled over 40,500 miles in my 2001 GS, and here's my troubles:

Clutch ripped apart at 20,433 and took my tranny with it, turns out there was a service bulletin on the 2001's and the clutch and tranny was replaced under warranty. Really the clutch was my fault, i really beat the piss out of it with drag launches, a few burnouts, and a few LONG sessions on the backroads. Since the rebuilt, I've had no problems with it, especially when i changed the gear oil to redline MT-90 synthetic.

My gas mileage has nosedived recently to around 30mpg hwy. Still trying to find the culprit, dealer was no help as there was nothing really wrong with the car, its just eating too much gas... or my foot's a tad too heavy.

I've had no problems that i havent caused myself in some way. Its really a good car, especially with the way I beat on it.

230K + km's on my 97 accent, runs like a top. I've only ever had probs with the alternator but that was due to my mad hopped up ice system.
