Hey guys,
Just wondering what type and weight of oil you guys are running. Right now, I'm running Penzoil 10w-30...

yea, I think the manual recommends 5w30. But I don't think 10w30 would matter, I've ran that a couple of times.

I've been running 10W-30 synthetic. Tried 0W30, but it is too fluid for the 1.5L.
I'll probably cut down to 5W30 for the winter.

Does anyone experience "tapping" in the upper part of the engine on start up when you know you're ready for an oil change?

I get that more when my oil starts to get low. The valvetrain starts to get starved of oil and it starts to tick.

I use 20w50 Valvoline racing oil
The heat in AZ absolutely tears 10w30 a new ass, the stuff looks like brown water after a day in 120 degree bumper to bumper traffic.
Also, my car has 117K on it, and thicker oil is better for cars with more than 75K on them....stuff has never let me down, have used it in my rx7, SE-R, etc...

Really? in the 1.5L? I was thinking of going heavier in mine but didn't want to lose fuel efficiency or power...

Is there anyone else that run heavier than 10W30 in the Accent?

If you look in your Hyundai Service manuals, it recommends 20w50
for higher temperatures and higher motor stress situations...which my car experiences daily
