Excel in shop, '98Accent loaner car.... NOT impressed
The "good" people here at the Hyundai dealership in winnipeg have finally got around to making all the repairs on my car from when my system got stolen over a month ago. IE. destroyed dash, borken door handle, no cd player... blah...
Anyways, I have a loaner car right now from them, and it's a '98 Accent. I must say.... this thing is a PIECE! I'm not saying that the accent is a crappy car in general. But, I mean, this thing is a stock '98 Hyundai, and it couldn't come close to my Excel. I raced my friend's Accord last night... who generally I keep up with in my Excel, but.... with the Accent. AHH!:dead:
I don't believe I've EVER lost a race that badly! We started at a red light on a highway at about midnight last night. But the end of the intersection, he had already pulled a car length ahead of me! A WHOLE CAR LENGTH! And after a quarter mile... I'd say he was about another 1/8 of a mile ahead of me. I am shamed..... I mean, my excel beats him on the quarter mile, but he always pulls ahead after that... but... the accent.... UGH!:dead:
I don't understand... and the last loaner car that I had, though I didn't get a chance to race it, was a 2001 Elantra... and IT was even SLOWER!
Anyways, I'm not here to dis anybody with either of these cars, because, after all, I couldn't have even afforded them when I bought my Excel, but.... should there be that much of a difference between a '90 Excel and a '98 Accent? Or the 2001 Elantra, for that matter?? :ermm:
Re: Excel in shop, '98Accent loaner car.... NOT impressed
Its a loaner for gods sake! Dont you suppose everyone who drove it, ragged it out racing and whatever? Not the fastest thing on 4 wheels but Im sure you could find one stock thats faster. Nobody takes care of loaners..... let me know how many times you can drop it in drive from neutral at lets say 3500rpm hehehhehe

Re: Excel in shop, '98Accent loaner car.... NOT impressed
Yes, they were both automatic, the elantra and the accent
and for a FACT, the elantra I had was slower that the accent
I have this stretch of highway starting at a red light toward my house that I always test my cars on. It's about... 0.6 kms, and I check the speed that I'm at once I get there.
the 2001 Grand Am I drove before reached 160
My excel reaches 140, 145 on a good day
the accent just got 130
and the elantra barely made 120
even my 91 cavalier makes 130
you can call B/S on me all you want, but those are the facts
And you're saying the "98 accent" looks better than the excel based on three factors :
1.) you're assuming 98's of anything look better than 90's of anythinf
2.) you bought an accent because YOU liked it, so another bias
3.) though YOU may have a nicer accent, not every accent looks better than my car, you haven't even seen my car
as well, the loaner accent I have right now is covered in scratches, dents, dealer decals, and birdsh*t.... so... why should I like this accent better than my car?
Might I add again that the accent lost HORRIBLY to a '90 Accord EX (not EX-R AND practically stock!)
Re: Excel in shop, '98Accent loaner car.... NOT impressed
and thank you "yourdaddyrobert"
i have been beating the sh*t out of the car already, as has everybody else, I am sure.
with only 100K's on it, it's already becoming crap
I'm sure other stock accent's are faster, but all I was stating were the facts
Re: Excel in shop, '98Accent loaner car.... NOT impressed
yeah I figured it was pretty ragged out. anyways how about some info on those drop shifts.... btw can you take pics of whatever falls apart afterwards. hahahaha. damm I need a loaner accent ! for data collection of course :
