Default Hi guys need a little advice please

Hi I'm in the UK just found the site, I'm looking for advice on a Scoupe I am about to buy in the morning, all I know about it is it has leather interior, it has Miri written on the back (not sure what this is), sorry if this is a little vague but I am a newb where it comes to these cars.

I will find out more info tomorrow about it when I take a look at the paperwork, until then I am in the dark, lol much like you, thank's for reading my little bit, any help whatever it is would be a help :

Cheers

Hey man! Welcome to the boards!

It would help a lot if you could post up wat you expect to do with the car and wich direction you want to take with it; go, show or a little or both. It would also help if you could post up a budget estimate for your project.

Seeya round the boards!

Thx for the warm welcome.

First the Miri part is in fact MVI lol sorry it was dark when I first saw it DOH! it's multi valve injection this I know lol.

Anyway I dont know which way or what I am gonna do with it, as modding this type of car is not usually done in the UK as far as I know, but believe me some of the mod that can be done to cars in the UK which have 1.4 turbo engines can be as much as 300+ HP, I kid you not.

I will post more when I get the car this afternoon, as it's 08.26 here now and I aint had any sleep I will post later on tonight ok, although it look's pretty cool already, it has had uprated wheels put on 16" I think, very very clean and rust free which is a great sign here in the UK with our weather as you can guess lol, as soon as the bonnet is lifted I will know if it's a turbo or not (I hope it is a turbo *fingers crossed*)lol.

Anyway enough of my warbling cya all when I get up night night :sleepy::sleepy::sleepy:

Welcome to the Boards Nugun, and yes, I'll keep my eyes crossed for the turbo...do it all the time while driving anyway. Lets us know more about the car when/if you get it.

The Scoupe basically has the same specs for engine as the Excel. It shares the 8 valve 1.5L engine. But some models of the Scoupe are Turbo and have some differences. I doubt the MVi is Turbo though, unless it had a turbo badge on it too. The non turbo engine has approx. 81HP or 60kw, and 92ft/lbs or 124nm. The turbo version has quite a bit more. Don't remember but I think its something like 112Hp, or something like that.

A head swap is avalible to a Mitsu 12-valve head. Use this as a basic modification.

It would be a great help if you could tell us the year of the car.
Anyway, the '91 S-Coupe was N/A and had 84hp @5500rpm. Also it had 8-valves.
The '92-'95 in the other hand had two versions. Both of them had a 12-valve heads but one of them had a T2 turbo installed, designed by Garrett for HYundai. It had 114hp @ 5300rpm. If you get the turbo model, the first thing you should do, in my opinion, is to install an intercooler which will release some more power and protect your engine.
The '91 model had a mitsubishi engine while the '92-'95 model had a Hyundai engine (including the turbo model).

Good luck and welcome to the family!!!

Hi & welcome to the forum! All U.K. Scoupe`s have the Alpha 1 engine....the first unit to be completely designed by Hyundai & it`s 1495cc. with a single overhead camshaft.
The two models were M.V.I. =Multi (12) Valve Injection (which is a bit gutless) & M.V.T.I.
the T. being Turbo, which has reduced compression & under-piston oil jets to suit it`s Garrett T15 ball-bearing Turbocharger. This latter car has good tuning potential (from 114b.h.p. stock to around 225 max.) Tuning on the former model would be limited to induction & exhaust mods giving around 95 b.h.p. at best.
Hope you got the Turbo!!:
