i was just wondering if anyone as oil sprayed there car for the up coming winter, i have a 2002 GSi and im leasing it, i anit sure if i will buy it when the lease is up or not, but i feel that i should keep the car looking in perfect shape just incase i buy it. was wondering if it is ok to oil spray a lease car cuz they need to drill holes in some spots, i will call the dealer tomorrow to find out, just wanted to know if anyone has called and as done it?
joeyboxer, I would do it regardless. Even if you decide not to keep the car, it's a small investment to make, and doing it once will protect the car for a couple of years.
I think oil spray is where you get this black gunk sprayed on the bottom of the car. It protects the metal from rusting out in salty-road winter conditions.
It's also known as undercoating... although I don't know if rust proofing and oil spraying are the same thing, or if oil spraying and undercoating are the same.
If they do have to drill holes, why don't you call your dealer and ask them if it would affect the warranty?
black stuff on the bottom of the car is called tar coating . . . not many car companies do it. my accent has it on it. its a 2001 so im not worried

oil spraying is where they spray an oil type coating that pretects the botton of they car from rusting from the salt they put on the road in the winter. they drill holes in the doors, hood, trunk, rockers and spray the oil so that the car doesnt rust from the inside out. it cost about 100bucks to get it done here in canada, small price to pay for keeping your car looking new longer
my wife had a 99 accent which was leased and was oilsprayed with the holes drilled in the car. we had no problem when we returned the car, but it was in excellent shape. it would be a good idea to call the dealer where you got the car, just to check his opinion.
