I used to have 17x7 rims with 205/40 tires. It looked great but the rubbing was too annoying! I sold those and purchased 16x7 rims with 205/40 tires. I haven't had any rubbing (I tried to in order to confirm this statement) and it still looks great! There is my $0.02!!

I have 16x7 also, with my car lowered, the rear still rubs. Will get rear guards lipped and all should be ok.

your 2000 does not have captive rotors so you will not have to worry about that.

I have 17X7 w/ 205/40 tires and I only have rubbing problems in the back. These were quickly and inexpensively fixed however by using a die grinder on the bolt housing on the inside of the wheel well. I believe the offset of the rims was either +42 or +43.

i swear a guy from my town has an accent on 18's i'll try to put up a picture of it. it almost looks funny, the car sits too high and it can't be lowered...

i know of two people that had 18's on accents but they were both 95-99 models. i wouldn't suggest 18's for a street driven accent at all.
