Default Don't know what to do!

I've found out that the 4g63t engine swap is not possible for my little 93 Scoupe. I've just about given up on the project. I'm even considering selling it and putting the money in my girlfriends 96 Saturn SL2. That little 4door is surprisingly fast, it is a twin cam engine. If anyone has any info on any other engines that could be swapped now is the time to spill it out. Thanks!<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hmm you have the old G4EK?

I like the S-Coupe LS Turbo motor G4EKT! However note, there are many important differences between the non-turbo motor and turbo G4EK motor. Not least are the oil-squirters fitted at the bottom of the cylinder bores plus obvious things like pistons. Externally there should be few differences with the short block.

The S-Coupe Turbo used a Garret GT15 Ball Bearing Turbo Charger, with a compressor AR of 0.58 and Exhaust Turbine of 0.56. When looked after, they last for ages! But beware, as the main core is not servicable, so if you bugger it up through misuse (not allow to warm up and cool down, etc) or not keeping the oil fresh, it may not last too long. Bear in mind they will be around 5-8 years old now, so finding a good one may be hard. However they are great little units and spool up very fast (boost from 2,200 rpm), however their top end is limited as they run out of puff.

The GT 15 is no longer made, however I know Hyundai Australia has 2 in stock as spare parts - for just A$3,000 each!!!! Then again, you can get a 220 hp Garret ball bearing turbo, T25 size, for A$1,800. Both offer both fast spool up and good top end power.

I saw something similar in a fastfours mag a while ago now. It had a 4G62T.

Morgan (GalantVR422psi@aol.com) did a 91 Scoupe 4G63 turbo swap, and had a spare Lancer EVO 3 4G63 turbo engine, complete from throttle body to downpipe that he wanted to sell. If ur interested in a rundown try contacting him!

I would investigate the motor from the Dodge Colt turbo. The Dodge Colt turbo is fitted with a 4G61T. Which is essentially a 1.6L version of the 2.0L 4G63. It may be a simple swap (well, as simple as any swap) if the motor is similar. The Colt turbo was mounted the same way as the older Excels. The Colt turbos were pretty quick, even in stock trim. All of the Scoupes after '93 in North America had Alpha motors (BOTH turbo and non) that were mounted the opposite way to Excels.

I hope this helps
