Check this site out http://www.rpw.com.au./New%20Website/MP001.htm

They specialise in that kind of thing and have a lot of experience with hyundai's - they are in Australia, but it should give you some ideas.

I don't think he's on this board and don't know how to contact him.
He used to have a homepage, but its not there anymore.
I think he was pushing around 200hp or so.
Hope someone else will help you out more than I can. I don't think there is anyone who tried a 1.6L-1.8L project.

It might be better if you just swaped in a 1.8L Beta (Elantra or Tiburon) or 2.0L Beta(Elantra or Tiburon) engine in to your car.

Hi geo97accent105.
Please try and refrain from replying to a topic and changing the subject of what is at hand.

If you would like to ask a questions about beta swaps, please read topics in the hybrid forum and then feel free to ask a question there. Yes you can do a beta swap on your car as you will find that there are many topics of that nature in that forum and a few members have done that swap.

As far as cams and cam gears, I'm not sure who sells them. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

You most likely cant do it. There just isnt enough block material.

just a problem i see about your idea 1.6L dohc have the Same block that the 1.5L

1.6L dohc are just a 1.5L with 1" more bore and 3" more strocke so stroke it to 1.7L oki maybe but to much like 1.8L the sleave will be thin and the engine will begin to be really week... yeah more torque and everything... but less Rpm... and weeker engine....

geo97accent105 for the Cam Gear our engine Sohc or dohc Have only one external Cam like some other Cars and not like honda.... so a adjustable Cam Gears will never Give you anything good cause hading at one place will instantly remove in other way... adjustable Cam on a Sohc on our Dohc wont give anything a lighter Cam gear maybe but adjustable.... No way ...

Its 1mm and 3mm, not inches. Get your units right. The 1.6L Bore and stroke are only ~3.01" by ~3.4" respectively.

The 1.6L DOHC alpha3 uses a completely new block design from the 1.5L DOHC alpha2. The heads are basically the same though. Most likely, the 1.6L can be bored a maximum of 1mm over, but i'm not sure because i've never had the head off my engine. Hyunda sells 1mm oversize pistons, so I assume it can be done. If you bore out our engines, the geometry becomes more square, which means you can safely rev higher, seeing that our bore is a lot smaller than our stroke (by like 10mm, i cant get on webtech at work to check so I cant give exact #'s).

Is bore a radius or a diameter?
