i really wana buy an accent gt ... is it worth it ? really need to know

hey ime new on this forum , my first car was a civic cx 92, it lasted me 1 year without a problem, even without tacking good care of it. rust killed its value so i got rid of it and got a civic 98 dx. i didnt like the fuel economy, the 92 civic did 450 km with 40l tank and the 98 civic did 350km. anyways , on the great new year before going to a chaley, i went on a street in laval , and on the turn my car slipped, street was pure ice. the beautiful impact of barly 25 kmph gived me a bill of 3000$ can. now those civics are really built to fall appart. tho it felt like hitting a pack of pillows.

anyways i want to buy an accent gt now... because of its price, options (sun roof , ac ...) fuel economy, ...

but is the car reliable ??? i looked at a lot of reviews, most of em were pretty good, but i found a lot of ppl that were pissed about car breaking down.

plz if anyone has experience with the accent gt , is the car reliable after 120 000 km ?

What year Accent GT are you looking at getting they made them in 96 and 97, and they are making one again in 2K3

i have a Gt 96 and i live in canada.... for the fuel economy i can really tell you cause it really depand on how you Drive i drive mine over always 6000rpm and i do bearly 400km with 45L tank... it cost me about 30$ and less when i tank maybe i have problem with my fuel tank gaudge don't know... but 30$ and less for 400km is ok for me it's many more on high way.... and again always depends of the way you drive It

I'm from Quebec and when i go to Trois-rivères it's a 1hour drive about 120km it take less then ¼ of tank at 120km/h

for the reliabelity over 120000km i always heard taht the 1.5L dohc or dohc is the betther engine hyundai have made.... i saw a lot of 1.5L Sohc in the old excel 94 and with 300000km and only problem the engine got is taking a bit of oil

My Accent Gt 96 have 99700km and No problem and i've been beething the crap out of it since 60000km so are they reliable Yes i'm Pretty shure they are but never have Seen One many poeple Fear the old reputation hyundai have in canada wich isn't trow anymore... :

i have a 97 GT and i really like it, the only problem i have is there really in not that great of selection of tuner things. I mean there is shark racing but that all. I wishi had a greater slection. But other than that my accent has better gas milage than all my freinds and i have had it for 5 years and i still think it looks new..........

thanks a lot for the info guys, honestly ime not that surprised since ive been going to sites all over the net about accents, and lets say 85% of the time its all positive. my barly smashed 98 civic is being exchanged for a 1995 honda accord lx 2 dr. my main problem is ime 19 and my father and brother in law (dad's suck up) is always tacking decisions for me. freaking pissoff cuz i really really wanted an accent gt. i like the looks, size and options. i could sell the accord once i get it but then its a big insult to my dad. i wouldent really bitch considering that he helped me A LOT for paying the 98 civic. the shit here is that hyundai does have a crappy reputation in canada, an otehr thing is i got a aunt with like a 94 sonata and her car is always going back to the garage (apparently) in a way ime happy cuz the civic i could have sold for 6000$, and i know the accord has better resell then that. .. .. but i dont know what to do. i still am considering selling the accord after i get it. i know it might be better to keep it but things about bother me. 1 the color GOLD i dont like that color
2 i like small underestimated cars
3 i really really really hate driving automatic.
4 i really want a freaking sunroof.

well whatever , ill see ill do .... but lets say you guys were in my shooes, what would you do? keep the good reputation accord with 109000 km or sell it for an accent gt.
besides i found an accent gt on hebdo for 4000$ year 97 i think with under 120000km with a 1 year guarenty. the extra 1500$ could be for the other guy's supercharger... or other interesting stuff.

Dont judge hyundai off of a 94 Sonata. That car actually has a n/a version of the 4g63, so i'd be wary of mitsubishi.

The accent GT is a great little car. Its also pretty rare. Most people dont expect them at all. Add to it I hate accords, and I'd get the GT in a heartbeat.

4000$ bretty Good Price i don't know where you leave in Canada But in Quebec i got mine about a year Ago for 6000$ whit 60 000km really when i saw the price i was socked my freind Paid is civic Si 93 Hbk like 7-8k with more than 80000km uzzled:

I just bought my '96 Accent GT 5speed manual DOHC 1.5Liter, about 5days ago, and filled the tank($32), and have drivin the sh*t out of it since I got it, and have about 460km's(all city mileage) and there's about 1/4left in the tank, so its pretty good on gas for me. Im happy with it. Handles great to.8D

If you are just buying it for fuel economy.. that is what it was built for. But there is no aftermaket parts like they have for Honda for the Accent. So keep that in mind.
