Default idle sensor

so i got quite the shock today... i started my car and backed out of my driveway, i pushed in the clutch to shift to first gear, and weird... my revs were climbing and then falling climbing and falling.... weird. so i kept going, i barely had to touch the gas to go anywhere it was doing it for me. so a little ways down the road i noticed my check engine light was on..... o oh. so when i got to work i called the dealer and made an appointment. i went and he said the idle sensor malfunctioned causeing the engine to "search" for the appropriate idle speed. they fixed it free of charge but what a pain in the a**.
i was wondering if this is a common problem, or if not and this happens to you: here you go.:ermm:
