Default 99 accent intake problem

i recently installed a civic intake on my 99 accent. i cut the tube to a short enough lenght to allow the filter to sit behind my battery. my car has a noticible hp gain and when flooring it , it performs fine but when i'm taking off at a moderate speed the car stutters at about 2500 rpm in 1,2,3rd gears...we left the o2 senser attached to the throttle body... the senser that attached to the old air filter box is disconnected...the hose comming off the throttle body is connected to the hose hole on the joint of the intake......any hints? tips? suggestons?

There is no o2 sensor in the throttle body. There is one in the exhaust manifold and one after the cat.

You described what is wrong. Yoiu left the sensor disconnected. That is your MAF sensor. That must be connected. You are going to have to drill a hole in the CAI for it. make sure it is facing the right direction and then use some silicone to seal it in.

I have a 99 Accent (custom CAI w/ bypass valve) - also...mave sure the arrow on the MAF is pointing toward the TB (trottle body). Also, make sure you cut a hole for the AIT (air temp sensor). Try that & make sure to reset you ECU by disconecting the batter for 10 min or so.

i ajusted the maf sensor ( it was facing the right direction but wasnt horizontal )i also put the old tube that has a nozle for the throttle body tube back on. its connected between the throttle and the maf sensor....i also sealed the holes on the intake tube. the other sensor that was connected to the old air filter box is still unhooked.....the check engine light is now off though....should i still drill a hole and attach the sensor to the intake? the car is running fine now.... no more stuttering at 2500 rpms

yea you should still drill a hole for the air temp sensor, i use to have mine just dangling, but i put it in my tube now, but when you drill the hole, take the lil gromet out of the box and put it in the intake tube so the sensor will fit in thier and stay in their real nice.

i was wondering, do i buy the intake for thr ex civic or the dx, lx one?. anyway i was lookig under my hood and i dont reall have room for an intake without moving the battery and that is not an option. its to big to turn sideways and i have no room in the hatch. the only thing i could see working for me is attacch a fiter to the maf. has anyone else done this? if so hows it working out. im really hyped about modding this car now cuz i just got word im gettin the money to paint it again
