Default Is it worth it....

I just won a free alarm system for my car!!!!!!!!!!! 8D I entered a draw at the car show a few weeks ago and they sent me a letter telling my I had wone a $330 (CDN) car alarm system! I would have to pay 100 for the install. Is it worth it for an accent GSI?

The alarm is a Quinn Security Pro 300.

What do you think

i got that exact same letter before. pretty much any draw you enter is just to get a database of potential customers. they probably send out a ton of those letters because people will come in and spend money on installation and extras.
call another shop and ask how much to install an alarm without any door or hood sensors because you will likely pay extra for that.

on boxing day at A&B Sound, after waiting in line for a few hours, i ran in and saw this giant stack of white boxes with a huge sign that said "FREE REMOTE STARTERS!!!"

I asked about it, and they said "Yeah... it's free....with install"

:hmmm: WELL... I'd rather NOT pay the $100 install fee for a starter when I can buy one for half that and install it myself

an alarm system is different though... I'd say go for it if you have the 100... and DEFINITELY if you have or ever plan to have any kind of stereo whatsoever

unfortunately there are actually canadians who steal stereos.... uzzled:

trust me, I know from experience

who the crap would get a alarm and not have door or hood sensors put in. isn't that the entire idea behind having an alarm........to try and keep people OUT.:hmmm:

No stereo yet, but I have some plans for the car. Mostly go rather than show. But thinking of upgrading the speakers and all.

I am going to see if I have a friend to do the install for me and save the money, however I won the alarm. I still get it even if I do not do the install. However they did say that the install would be soldered rather than crimped. What do you think about that?

Soldering is better because it stays together better and can have a better contact than a crimped connection.

It sounds like a good deal to me....$100 CDN....

what kind of features does it have? i.e. dB of siren, doors, illuminated entry, flashing lights, starter kill, shock sensors, etc. etc.
