Default does anybody know how to get rid of the maf sensor?

does anybody know how to either disconect or wire in another maf sensor on the 1x excels....it is located on the actual intake "tube" so you cant replace it with a air filter cone cause then the engine stalls and the check engine light comes on..i would love to wire in some sort of small tube style so i could just adapt it into the air intake pipe and rip that big box out and replace it with k&n....help with this one would be greatful....:smoking:

i've come up with to idea you hack the f**king MAF with a S-afc then you can do lasmost everything with it... i'mean buthing the sensor in a 2.5" orevan 3" tubing as you wish... or swaping to a MAP intake..... in some contry they are all map over here canada only 1.6L dohc are MAP if i remenber well... so maybe by swaping to the map intake with the wiring... it would work the problem is in the Computer..... i'm no good in electronic so i'll let better persone in that domain explic what you would have to change.... :

the only way to get rid of your mass air flow sensor completely is to use a stand alone ecu. That is the only way you will be able to run an engine that was made to use a maf sensor. True a safc or hks unit can modify your signal it still can only trick your ecu not over ride it, and it still has to be inline in your air flow tract. Most stand alone's use map sensors so that would make it possible. The 1.6 uses a map sensor as well as the new beta 2s. If you would swap one of these into your accent 1.5 you would need the harness and ecu as well as the sensors. Every beta swap i've seen so far has been a maf beta to simplify the swap. To get more air through you can take your accent sensor and put it into a tib housing, this however without a safc can affect your signal sending more fuel richening your mixture which can lose power. So you have some choices.

hum Andy why the s-afc would work ?

if you but the maf sensor from an accent in a turborin maf or in a 3" tubing maybe it will make the engine run rich... you install a S-afc and tune it to lean and have the perfect Ari/fuel mixture no ? uzzled:

this could possibly work using a n/a maf from a 2g mitsu donor...

that's right barman, if you use the bigger mass air flow housing it will run richer to compensate for the extra air so with an safc you could lean out the mixture and get some more power. Only real way to do the tuning is on a dyno though with a a/f ratio gauge or better yet a wideband o2 sensor.

DWAHH!! :??:

does ANYBODY know if this will work??! That would be amazing if it did. It would actually make my $80 K&N filter useful! (though I am replacing it with a custom RACTIVE CAI anyways)

DAAAAMN that would be awesome if it worked
