Default super rough idle and awful drivability

OK, I hate this freaking car now more than ever. It is idling extremely rough and I can't even drive it because it cuts out and cuts out...can't even get around the block without it almost dying. No check engine light comes on. I took it in to Hyundai for a diagnostic, they said no codes were poppin, and they tried different things. They figured it was the MAF sensor. I luckily had an extra one so I replaced it but the same thing. I have tried driving with the O2 sensor disconnected, no change. One suggestion from a buddy was the coil pack. I have no clue. Ayone had this problem, maybe any suggestions???? Thanks uzzled:

I have spent alot of money trying, and I stress trying to make it faster. Extractors, exhaust, intake, port and polished head, Tib TB, lightened Flywheel, and I think that's it. In the last year, I have had to spend alot of money on it, new rad, 2 new collant pumps, 2 new thermostats, new transmission, new engine, new heater core, blah blah blah. When we put in the new engine, I didn't bother putting the P&P'd head on the new one, and am debating on whether to sell it or not. I still have the exhaust, headers, intake, TB and flywheel mods still on. It's lowered also with Apex springs and KYB shocks.
I'm looking for some advice, should I continue to fix the few little problems on the car and keep it as a daily driver, for when I buy my new ride, or should I just sell it, buy my new ride, and a beater for the harsh winters here in Canada. If I keep it, I'm thinking of pulling the new engine out (which has 55,000km), ripping apart the block and re-building it to support turbo. I'm just debating whether or not it's worth the money. My new project will be WAY faster and will be fairly expensive. It's just that I have spent so much money on it in the last year on repairs, that I'm not sure if it is worth it to sell. I just keep wondering, what's next????:??:
It will be nice not being a student again in 3 months, living measly paycheck to measly paycheck.

I had the coil pack go out last year when my sister was driving. Don't know what it felt like, but they said it kept stalling and really rough idle and couldn't go past like 50 km/h or something.

Since you've replaced almost everything else, that could be the problem.

The dealer doesn't seem to know what is going on, so maybe take it to a different mechanic or garage.

You`ve received good advice, have an auto electrician check the coil-pack - after you have made sure the plugs & wires are O.K.

Hopefully things work out. You've done a ton of work to your car, but it is the first model year that it came out so there are bound to be some problems. Since its a 95, its already 8 years old.

I think that the coils have a lifespan of about 4 or 5 years so if it hasn't been replaced yet, it probably needs to. Plugs and wire should be checked also.

I think the coil packs should last a lot longer than that. They normally don't go out that easily. At least in my experience they don't.

They are unfortunately a pricey item.

Mine are well out of spec at 58,000 miles, but still running the car well enough. I've noticed a rough startup for quite some time when the car is cold, or if its really really humid out and in general the car feels a tad down on power (though a lot of it went away when I changed my cone filter for the first time in 10,000 miles :hmmm:.

Oh and its $60 for coil packs (both of em), the bracket, the bolts, and obviously all the OE connectors so its plug and play from your local Hyundai dealer.8D My new one should be in tomorrow.

I got a 01 Accent 1.6L GL.One of my factory ignition wires blew out the side recently. But that gave me a check engine light. You may also want to change your fuel filter.. you may have had a bad batch of gas. Fuel fitler is easy to change, pick up the back seat, and there is a cover to remove.. fuel fitler is under there, with quick disconnects on the hose... took me only a few minutes. Fuel filter cost me $14 (Wix 33235).
My car has also ran rough since purchased. Removing the factory Champion plugs and putting in NGK's helped alot.

Changed the coil pack. Didn't help at all. Cost me $101 CDN. Damn waste of money there. Am attemptimg to change the fuel filter now. It's at the firewall and a pain in the ass to get around a few things. Taking a break now as I am slightly frustrated. Anyhow, I sure hope changing this helps. I am getting very impatient.

You didn't get it checked before you changed it?

This sucks... did you take it to a different mechanic? I mean, a professional shouldn't have much trouble diagnosing it cause you've replaced almost everything.

I hope you get it fixed cause I'd be really upset too.:depressed:
