Default Fog Lamp Hole Intake feed?

Hey People
I'm considering doing an intake mod. I was planning to use the factory airbox (with the obligatory K&N) but have a 2-3" pipe threading down to the (left) fog lamp hole and have some aluminum mesh (the real thing, not that ACP gutter cover stuff) across the fog lamp hole to keep out pedestrians

What I'm worried about is the possibility of water getting into the intake...I really couldn't afford a rebuild since the warranty wouldn't cover it, although it did cover my last tranny

Since you are retaining the stock intake box, you shouldn't have that much trouble with water. It won't provide enough suction up to the intake manifold. I can't guarantee this for pedestrians however... :hmmm:

Rip out the airbox & fit a cone filter, heat-shield it with a piece of alloy plate & run your cold air pipe to within 4" of the filter. (See my engine-bay pics.).
I have even installed a 12 volt fan (from an old computer) to draw cold air from the original factory intake, which helps when the car is stationary.....ie. at traffic lights!.:
