What up everyone, it's my first time even seeing this forum so If I can get some good info. I am free from all hyundai stress........ Now I just wanna know if it is worth tuning my stock accent engine or, swapping to the 2.0 beta engine. I have to learn more about that 1.5L before I make a decision.

Welcome to the site.

It depends on what you want to do to your car and how much horse power you want.

The alpha engine can take a bit of boost and still produce some nice numbers. Suprgtr had her engine dynoed at 180 hp and 166ft lb torque at the wheels at 10 psi. Later they (Suprgtr's_man) had it up to 18psi to about 270 hp. This is of course with upgrades all around.

The stock engine can take about 5-7psi I think.

The beta engine starts off with around 135hp and has seen 250hp on these boards turbo charged. In Korea, there are some with over 600hp, but mainly for drag cars.

The beta has further potential for boost, but if low to mid 200's are what you are aiming for, maybe sticking with the alpha would be okay.

Since your car is a 1995, it might have seen its better days, so an engine swap might be the thing it needs. Maybe a direct newer alpha swap or a beta swap. You might even want to bore out the alpha and go 1.7L or 1.8L and boost that. That should get you a few more horses.

You should list your car in your profile.

By going to "Edit Profile", you can add a car so that it is displayed under your user name. You can also add pictures to you profile so that people can see your car.

Also, you can add an avatar from the collection provided or add a custom one of your own.

I was thinking about boosting the stock engine, but I have friends that have had bad experiences with that, so I am aiming for the beta swap and working with that. Is there anyone with first hand experience that can help me get started?

We have a few members here that have (or had) a beta Accent.

ssraccent http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/fo...ic.php?t=23581has an LC beta swapped Accent (currently under construction in Hybrid forum) and Rudy had his yellow beast, but is starting a new beta Accent. 99mini http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/fo...ic.php?t=18061 also has an X3 beta Accent.

Kore-motorsports (Snowman)(Dave and Dan) also has a beta Accent (did and is doing Rudy's new car). http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/fo...ic.php?t=20985

jackhurdle http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/fo...ic.php?t=22957 is getting one done.

If you check around the hybrid forum, you may find information that you need.
For example http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/fo...ic.php?t=21181

I'm pretty sure that there are more out there, but I can't remember them all.
