Default Need help with tire sizing....

Okay, here''s a thought.

The 2003 GSI std tire size is 185-60-r14, and I was on tires101.com, and they say that a 205/55/r14 tire would be the closest for performance, fuel economy, etc, etc. Anyone try this, and what brand of tire carries that size. Is this an idea that has been toyed with before? I did this on my last Neon, and it made a big difference in handling!!!

What's everyone's thoughts on this???

The standard tire you described is technically a performance tire, however, the tire itself may be semi-performance. A 195-50-15 tire/wheel package is a better option for you.

Does changing the size throw the speedometer off? Also by the way: Arcangel, your previous car was a Neon? THat's what I've got now. What neon did/do you have? I have a '96 Highline coupe, stick.

If you don't mind, could you tell me how would you compare the Accent to the Neon? (Performance, handling, etc). I don't want to jack the thread, but I don't see any option for PMing on the site :/. Thanks

-Evan

Yeah, I would prefer to actually keep the 14" rims for now. The tire size I mentioned that was close indicated that the difference was less than 0.005%, only problem is that I can't find companies that make that size.
