Well lads, looks like shortly I just might be becoming a Provincial Police Officer so I will be giving my 2002 Accent GSI to my girlfriend and I'll be buying my dream-mobile...a VW Golf GLS diesel with all the coin I'll be making.
My girlfriend wants an auto though. If anyone knows the approximate cost of an auto tranny for my car and the difficulty level in swapping them, any info at all would be appreciated. My dad is a mechanic so hopefully, he'd be able to do it.8D
will be easier and cheaper now and in the long run just to teach her to drive a manual.
I believe you will need and ecu out of an auto to work, i think it has something to do with a tranny cooling sensor. I would be expensive, ecu. transaxel, torque converter, shifter assemblies, linkage ect lines from the tranny for the coolant, and hopefully your radiator will have the ducts in the bottom for the tranny fluid cooling, Im not sure how its all set up on the accents because I dont own an auto.

Not all, but most.
I'd take a TDI over the base 2.0 any day... they're both noisy and neither is fast, but at least the damn diesel goes forever on a tank of gas. Of course, my engine of choice in a VeeDub would be the 1.8T.
it would be REALLY hard to switch from manual to auto...
1) There is a sh1t load more wiring for the auto tranny so you will have to change over ALL the car's wiring over..
2)there will extra holes left over in the firewall....
3) you'll will have to change the ecu..
4) you'll need to change the rad...
it'll probably be a bigger pain in the end...
