Default 10w40

I just did my oil change and I put a bottle of 10w40 in with the two bottle of 10w30 I had. I had assumed that they were all 10w30 . I have not started my car yet. and I won't until I recive a responce from the forum. do you think that the 10w40 will harm my engine?

i don't think there's a huge difference into that...
assuming they are both the same brand?

but 3 bottles?
is that enough? or are you just doing an oil change without filter?

I've been running 10W-40 for several months now.

Driving in Ohio blows.

10w40 by itself is not harmfull at all. But the problem is that you mixed two diffrent oils. If they are both sintetic, semi-sintetic or mineral, then it should not do much harm, it's not really great, but not very bad either, but if they are difrent types, then I would not be taking any risk and drain the oil out and pour in new oil.

Actually, mixing synthetic and mineral oils won't do any harm. Neither will mixing grades. You're good to go.

Is that true? I've heard from several people that mixing sintetic and mineral is very bad, as the sintetic melts the mineral or something like that. But I'm no chemist so maybe it doesn't :

Castrol considers mixing weights and types bad.

I trust in castrol.

They make oil for a living, we on the forum dont.

I'd correct the problem.

maybe add some engine flush
Just run it for 10 mins at idle.

drain it and consider it a engine FLUSH investment to keep you engine clean

10W/40 is probably better than 10W/30 at this time of year anyway, as it`s very slightly thicker. It is false economy ever to change oil without fitting a new filter!.
Nick.
BTW if anyone still thinks that mixing mineral oils & synthetics in any way harmful........that is exactly what a semi-synthetic oil is!.

I changed the filter as well. and according to HMA they say that it is 3.3 liters to fill the engine. does that seem acurate to all of you guys. because it sure is acurate to my dipstick and I guess that is all that matters.
