maf, mass air flow, its the black thing in the middle of the intake between the tb and air filter box. if those start to go bad they can cause misfires. i found out my cat was plugged because i ended up having to take my car to the dealership and they replaced it. it was under warranty.

I got a misfire reading on my Tib because my coilpack was going bad. I'd definitely look into that. Try the cheap fixes first, then move on to the PITA parts. :

Have the fault-codes (which have been logged in your ECU) read by your dealer & rectified.
Cruising @ only 15m.p.h. in 3rd. gear is ridiculous!.....this is 2nd. gear territory.....3rd. gear should not even be engaged until you hit double that speed. No wonder your engine is complaining.....it will very likely be your gearbox next!.

my guess is that you set the code from lugging the engine. any engine that is loaded like that (with the possible exception of a 425 cat) with ping/detonate and set a misfire code.
is it setting a multiple misfire code or is it setting a particular cylinder?
