My cousin just bought a 01 Accent and she has a CD player she wants to install into the car. But I was noticing the corners on the current stereo are round, I was wondering how to install it. Has anyone done it? DO you suggest going to a stereo installation place to do it? Thanks.

I am having the same prob. I think i will just take mine to a place that is a little more skilled than myself. Are you trying to use a custom dash kit? I wanted to do that but i figured if you did not do it just perfect that it would look too ghetto. Let me know what you do and how it turns out.
All you really need is a installition kit and a wiring harness if you go to a electronic store that sells them just ask if they carry one for the 01 Accent. If the place does installations then they should have them. Also putting a radio in with out a kit can be a bit hard I put my radio from my 2K Tib into my fathers 2001 Elantra and the dash trim had to be shaved a little but it actually fit pretty good and it does not look that bad and I have no idea why he wantd it in his car.
2Kwagon is right check out crutchfield there best online dealer I have ever bought from. They have everything and one time the even called me and told me I ordered the wrong item for my other car, that tells me the really care about thier customers
Check with www.hmaservice.com . This page can help you take apart your dash. I have ordered from Crutchfield before. They give you the wireing harness, installation kits, and Instructions with your order. I would recommend the Wireing Harness, so you won't have to cut any wires. Hope I have helped you out.
When I installed my kenwood in my 2K accent the stereo place had to cut the whole a little bigger. Then they said the only way to get it to work was if the CD player stuck out a little ways from the dash, anyways it I don't think it looks ghetto or anything like that and they put molding around it. So if you ask me unless you are really comfortable cutting up the dash I would take it to a stereo shop to have it installed.
I'm not sure about the Accent's with the tape decks, but I bought a '01 GSI and it came with the Clarion CD deck and I replaced it with a older Pioneer deck and when I took it all apart, the clarion had a spacer that fit right over my pioneer, looks like it belongs there!
as i stated in my other post
