Ok so i'm at my parents for some supper and such. It's 40 below here and my car isn't plugged in. I go home after about 6 hours and start her up... she's turning over
S L O W L Y but fires up... she's cold as hell so i sit tight and wait for her to warm up... the CEL light is on and she's running really ruff. I wait ten mins and the CEL is still on, I limp her home with no difficulty but i definitely didn't rev the hell out of her but she's still sounding rough even though it's up to normal running temp by the time i get home (about 15 blocks) The one thing that I was thinking was that one or more of the injectors was frozen causing it to not run as normal. Am i right here or is there something else wrong. I'm plugging her in all night to see if that helps. Any suggestions? Gas line antifreeze etc? Please help!
Well the dealer is of course closed on Sunday so that'll have to wait. The CEL is still on but she is running fine, maybe idling a bit low (around 800 or so) but nothing too bad. The manual says if the light is solid that just means you need to get it checked but no real damage should come of it, flashing is bad! So i'll book an appointment for this saturday. I put some gas line antifreeze in to help with this weather... man 40 below is COLD, i'll take 2 feet of snow over this bull anyday, then thursday it's supposed to be around 0 celcius (32F) ... go figure!

For now you can reset the CEL. you do this by disconnecting the negative on th batter for a couple of minutes.

Doing that would erase the code though. Then, the dealer won't have much of a foot print to trouble shoot.

this would only turn off the light. the code would still be stored in the ECU's memory. You can only completely erase a code from the ECU with a scantool
geeze. I had no idea that it stores everything until its removed!
I should go get mine read and see what the 50-100 different CEL's are... cuz damn I gotta have at least that many on it due to my previous engine problems.
Yeah pare that was my first thought... just reset the ECU (it would also allow the computer to learn my winter driving habits which are much more subdued) But really what's the point of turning off the light?
She's running fine now that i've plugged her in. Even though it's -47C with the windchill. "Sings O'Canada" I've booked her in for Saturday so they can find out what's the matter. Has anyone had this problem tho? I didn't expect you guys to be like "oh, that's ECU code 6, blah blah blah" but i wanna know if i'm the only one out there who's too stupid to plug in the block heater..
Ok, so if anyone cares the light went off today as i was coming home from work. Hopefully it will stay off and then i won't have to bother taking her in on Sat.
I had that problem today, I started her up and I had to keep on the key. When she did start she ran rough CEL was flashing(misfire) then it went solid. I reset the code and she seems to be running fine now and the light is off.
I checked spark to all the cylinders and they had enough. I checked resistance in the coils and cables and they are fine. I am not going to bother having the code read until or if it happens again.
