Default FYI: Rear Deffoger not working. Indicator doesn't come on

I just thought I would post here for people who experience the same problem.

Since I got it the rear defogger in my 2000 GSi wasn;t working.
Pressing the DEF button caused a clicking noise but the indicator would NOT illuminate. and obviously the defooger wasn't working.

WHat happens is due to cCHEAP Hyundai part and labour the solder on the pin of the relay in the main control timer melts and the connection is lost.

The relay is in the timer box. behind the driver side compartment. take that compartment out. pull it toward your face.

there is a black relay box behind it. that is the one that makes the noise. with a flash light spot the 10mm or 12mm that hold it. Undo it and take it out.

unplug the harness.
open the box.
one of the joints on the board. a solder point should be bad. that is the contactor of the relay. re solder it

put everything back and you should be fine.

the defogger is quite a simple circuit. ask me if you need help with some other point of it.

hope this helps.

Does any of your other gauges not work due to this problem? Just curious because I'm having this problem along with all my warning lights and temp and fuel gauge. My ABS light won't go out period...

I am more than certain this has nothing to do with anything else. Not even the wiper.

My car has no ABS but this seems irrelevant. check out your wheel sensors. did you hit anything?

he fuses are all fine?!

are you sure your defogger actually works?!

if that is the case then the bulb is gone

you have to take the panel out and change the bulb i guess.
