Default Oil Catch Can For The Intake....

Well, I read a really short but thorough how to [of sorts] on the install of an OCC but the problem is, I went to Home Depot and asked for a Water/Air Seperator for an air compressor and after asking 8 different people, they all stated "We don't carry that".
The original type-up is here: http://www.mirage-performance.com/sonata/CatchCan/index.html

The actual thread started here: http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=46353

*Does anyone know where I could possibly grab one of these in the Boston or Massachusetts area ? I believe I saw one on Vamp's Accent and a few other around the Accent forums....usually attached to the left wheel well under the hood. Sure, I could always shell out some cash for one from JCWhitney.com or the more pricier [ricier][yeah, I said it] from Weapon-R.com or GoodParts even but I'm curious, this clear design approach actually allows me to see the amount of oil being dropped into the catch.

Furthermore, if I read it correctly, one end attaches to the small valve on the custom intake and the other end attaches itself to the PCV valve but the way my LC2 is set up, the PCV valve runs to something else and there's a small inlet just to the right of it, the hose coming from that attaches itself to the same area on the custom intake as well as the stock intake.

Thanks all.

I found mine at Wal-Mart, and just the other day I saw them at Auto Zone.

Where it should go on an Accent is beyond me however. Sorry!

My Home Depot had it. You could also go online to a mail order if you can't find it locally.

Do yourself a favor and get two - put the second on your breather line.

#1 goes directly to the intake manifold and burns up. So I chose #2 because I didn't want oil getting into the throttle body. But I have'nt had a drop of oil in my catch can yet.

I never had a problem with oil in my 1.6L, just with the 1.5L. However, on my old LC I used a cheapy fuel filter, one of the plastic ones from autozone, on the line between the breather and intake but left the PCV alone.

Got an updated bracket for it and it connects to the intake.

Go to either Home Depot or Lowes by the power tools. They are w/ all the air compressor crap and they are in a plastic see through packaging hanging on a hook. Than the 2 gold nozzles should be right by it.

I get some oil in it from time to time, but nothing too bad. But it still more oil that didnt make it into the intake.

I think the blue one is at Home Depot and the Black one is at Lowes. So depending on what color top you want. Go to the store you want.

vamp your catch can tube is connected to where the breather should be? or is it connected to the pcv valve? I want to do this also, but my intake doesnt have that lil peice sticking out like yours to put the tube in. Instead i have a tube with a breather filter on it, do i replace the breather filter with the catch can? or do i get another tube, with one connected from the pcv valve and the other connecting to where i had my breather? hope this makes sense.

Ok, here are some pics of where I have mine hooked up to (2003 Hyundai Accent GT 1.6)

Circled In the White is where the Oil can should hook up to.

This shows you where lines from the oil can flow. The white X is the Red X from the previous pictures

Now RavAzn, this is what yours should probably end up looking like. This is my old set up and I had no problems. I didnt have a return line. But it works better w/ the air sucking from the intake to help guide the oil to the can. But it still works. Hope this helps a few people.

For autocross I run 2.

One goes on the PCV line, the other goes on the breather line. Both will pull oil under cornering and loads, and both will cause you to blow smoke out of the back if you do not have a catch can.

EDIT

You also do not want to leave any of the lines open to the atmosphere. You can cause a vacuum leak, or throw off your ECU because you are allowing air into the motor that has not passed through the Mass Airflow Meter.
