Default Okay... I'm a Newbie... Need Help with my Scoupe

1993 Hyundai Scoupe
-no mods

Bought Car as a winter beater for cheap, but it is clean and looks fairly decent, and is sort of fun to drive for a naturally aspirated 1.5L 12V SOHC Car.

Been told in the earlier models (1992-Down) you can fit a Mitsubishi 4G63T Motor into the engine bays of these, but in 1993 they swapped the motor out from the orion Mitsu 1.5L to an Alpha Hyundai 1.5L which is situated backwards in the engine bay.

How much is the differences in the engine bay to do this swap? because i can get a 1992 5 Speed Tranny, Mounts, Axles, a 4G63T 2.0L DOHC 16V Turbo Talon motor, and all sorts of Mitsu add-ons.

Are the 1993's that different from the 1992's?

no one at all? gotta know so i can start telling the guy to keep the parts for me... 1990 Talon TSi Donor and a Tranny and axles from the correct model to bolt the 4G63T to.

I forgot to ask if i gotta cut the mount plates from a 1992 or older to do this... or will it all just slip in?

ya man welcome to the forums but sheesh. give it time for people to answer. yes it is possible to do the swap but it'll cost you alot of money seeing as they are on opposite sides. you can however put a 2.0 beta motor in there and have a lot of fun with that. and the beta will turbo nicely. you do how ever have to change a motor mount but there is a guy on here in winnipeg that did not too long ago. you can search for it.... good luck and keep us posted...

BTW where are you??

Brantford Ontario. I was told the 1992 and older S-Coupes are compatible, but how big is the difference... that all i need to know, lol. I know that the early Scoupes had an Orion (Mitsu)1.5L 12V motor from the old Mirage's and Colts.

yes they did, but you said you have the alpha motor. if i'm reading this correctly you want to put the tallon engine in the series 2 scoupe. i'm not sure if that's been done on here....... have you used the search engine on this site?? i lived in oakville for like 13 years till last week when i drove my scoupe out to calgary.........

Yes... it is an alpha motor... I have asked people on the Club DSM Canada Forums Due to the Mitsubushi Motor, to no avail... they tell me to buy a Series 1 S-Coupe and pull my nose clip from my Series 2 and all my interior.

As I have been told on the Canadian DSM Forum... the 4G63T is a Direct bolt up to the Series 1 S-Coupe... due to the fact of the Series 1 S-Coupe having a mitsubishi 1.5L 12V motor, Facing the same direction as the 4G63T in the engine bay.

But... the Series 2 Has an Alpha Motor which faces the same way. I am asking where the frame has to be modified to fit the 1992 and older (Series 1) Frame points for the motor mounts, if it even needs to be done at all.
