Default Engine Chirp!

Oka, it seems pretty simple but I am really looking for an answer. Where there is the rubber hosing running to the intake... Oil run off or whatever, Ya know the one where people have decided to try and figure a DIY catch can for it, well i tried capping it off with a rubber tip, and stock ring clamp. When I first put it on, for a few seconds, after I turned the engine and started it, it started chirping like some older hyundai's do... along where the belts are at. Around that area. If there is a catch can, that totally caps off that little nub in the engine, wouldn't it do the same thing? What I am asking, is what reason would there be, to NOT cap and clamp off the stem that provides oil run off into the intake:nervous:uzzled:

I think that prevents pressure from building up inside your crank case or head. The sound might be pressure escaping from the gasket.

When you run a catch can, its running inline from the valve cover to the intake to be re-burned.

because the catch can has two lines on it. one from the head cover and one to that part of the intake.

Is it possible SAFELY! to just cap it off with a rubber grommet, and clamp, rather than run a catch can?

You can put on a breather filter, they have them at kspec I think or sharkracing. But you'll get oil leaking from the filter. You need to vent your crankcase or it will break.

I did the filter.. but there is no vacume pulling the gasses out.. so yeah.. no workey. Go to homedepot, get a Aircompressor Inline Filter. Looks like a little clear fuel filter. Just use that. REALLY simple. Then you can just change out the filters when its gets all icky.

Post a new topic to ask that. lol... and the final results from this topic is: I ended up buying the Cosmo Racing Short Ram Intake. The Red one. I love the color, and the hosing mounts perfectly, no need for a catch can or fuel filter. Thanks. Happy Tuning!

Its not a bad idea to get a catch can, even with the cold air intake. If you don't want to build one yourself, check ebay. They have really nice aluminum cans with a level meter on the side. They come with mouting brackets and hose. Its just to keep everything clean.
