Default Accent GSi braking problem

Hi Guys,

I love my car, but I have never owned a vehicle that braked so poorly. The car is quick to lock-up, take a nose-dive and skid. Has anyone experienced something similar or can anything be done to improve it.

Thanks

this is what caused my accident. the road was somewhat slippery, I hit the brakes... and guess what? yep the brakes locked. I really think they should check this out!

What brand of pads do you recommend? Can you notice a big difference?

I got the hyundai specials. you know the premium brake pads and they seem good. I want to update to a better caliper and larger router than stock will post pics when I do. May dothe change over to tibs when I do the engine swap not for a while though.

I live in Vancouver, BC.

As far as swapping goes, hopefully I won't have to swap much. I'm hoping that high performance brake pads will do the trick. I might look at a "big brake" upgrade down the road, if needed. I'm fairly new to this stuff. I'm still trying to figure out why the lock-ups are happening and what I can do to help. I have owned 8 or 9 cars and I don't recall experiencing that much. Could it be the car's weight distribution? It seems to be all up front.

BTW: Kudos for having a forum like this. It's great. It's cool knowing that you don't have to own a honda or a v-dub to have fun.

Anyone know the Accent's brake bias %? Is it adjustable?

I would not think it is adjustable... and I too think it is way to oriented towards the back. I'm wondering if I should make a claim with you guys' approval. If I was able to prove that it may have been the brakes fault, my insurrance would surely go down... damm cuz of this my deductible is now 1G!!!! <img src=/images/forums/snitz/mad.gif width=16 height=16 border=0>
