Default Newby questions

Ok so I got a few questions. 1. is a 96 accent an x3? if not what is it? 2. if I do the brake swap from the tiburon what year tiburon brakes can i use and will it allow me to put better rims on (those stupid bolts get in the way) 3. How low should I go when lowering my 96 accent? Im gonna be in a place without snow... 4. is the sharkracing 4-1 header a good deal at $410 or is there a better one? (my downpipe needs replaced anyway cost of that is around 120) 5. should i just make a cai or is there a good one that will fit nicely...? ok thanks for helping a newby out people.

Well you just happen to be in luck because I just got finished doing the tiburon brake swap on about an hour ago. I got my parts from a 2000 Tiburon in a junk yard for 150 dollars for everything. You'll need the Spindel Knuckle assembly caliper and rotors. It took me somewhere around 4 hours because it was a pain in some parts. Also your going to want to get your car aligned because mine is way outta wack.
Anyway your car is an x3 good job as far as lowering and headers I have no clue but all I did as far as a CAI I didnt feel like spending alot of money so I just bought a K&N filter for the car and cut holes in my air box. works good enough for me. Thats my 2 cents enjoy your Accent I love mine

thanks the brake info is exactly what i needed. so that will get rid of the captive rotors, right? as far as the intake I got the K&N and i was gonna cut a big hole in the box and put some sort of tube comming out to sit right behind the radiator... think that would work? I saw a supposed cold air intake on some australian site and it was basically what i just discribed. They were selling it for 300 course it was carbon fiber but still thats a lot for a rectangular tube.

Yeah it gets rid of the captive rotors but you have to be carfull on the tires cuz I have 205/50r15s and they rub all kinds of nasty in the back. I'm still trying to figure out how to get it so that they dont rub. So you probably need to get 195/50r15s to not rub. Oh well hope it helps

Try to run the pipe AWAY from the radiator if you really want some cold air.

Do you have a autozone in your area? If so, a hacksaw and some thought to the problem and you can make yourself an intake useing the honda civic intakes they have there. Thats what i did to mine. Hacked two of them up and made a TRUE cold air. It picks it up from behind the driving light. I can post pics if you like. It was very simple, and in the end cost me about $60 including K&N filter. Oh! you MUST GET K&N!

idk y but yes it runs and performs better.... for all other "regular" cars it's a cai but for some strange reason the accent responds with the sri better.....
