Default Overfilled the engine with oil.

Here is what is happening. A friend of mine with a 01 LC 1.5L is having issues. About a year and a half ago he overfilled the oil and had and still has lots of issues because of it. He had the usual MAF code so I looked at it and it was covered in oil and so was the intake piping and filter. I replaced his filter, cleaned his piping, and replaced his MAF with an extra updated MAF that I had laying around from my other accents. He has also had multiple O2 sensor codes and he so far has had 5 O2 sensors replaced. Now his light is on again for his O2 sensor. When I checked it it was wet with oil which is what is making the sensor fail.

Now to my question. Is there any way, besides tearing apart his motor or replacing it, to take care of oil that is getting down into the exhaust manifold? He is a poor kid so he is looking for the cheapest way of fixing this problem.

Im pretty much thinking that the head is going to have to come off and be thuroghly cleaned. Also cleaning the intake manifold, a new head gasket, exhaust gasket and all that good stuff.

Anyone have any ideas?

Did he drain the extra oil out of it? How much over was it? I raced with my 98's motor a quart high and other than excessive oil coming out of the PCV on cornering had no issues.

Hummm... why wouldn't he change the engine... these alpha engine cost peanuts.... for like 200$ CAD you have a 1.5 used engine 50-75K km ... and installing it is a joke for a garage and it's not very long.... 400-500$ and you have a new engine.. it worth it (if the problem is hard to solve)

I dont really know how long he ran the engine with a high oil level and I dont exactly know how much over he was but he told me maybe around 2 to 3 quarts extra. No I did not remove the intake manifold but im sure there is oil lingering in there. Il have to check the PCV and breather when I see him next.

Id have to say to clean up the motor, try giving the IM and EM a really good cleaning with some degreaser before you get into tearing it apart. I would go on ahead and put a new PCV valve in to.
