Default Timing Advance

Someone is selling a timing advance kit for accent and claimed up to 20rwhp, what it says is that it tricks the pc to thinking more cool air is coming in making the timing move quicker producing more power, do you thinkthere would be a bad effect to the engine or the car by doing this?...

*yawn* This again? A'ight. It's been discussed like a bazillion times this week. All it does is trick the computer into thinking that colder (than actual) air temp is coming into your car. Therefore adding fuel to the mix hence a boost in horsies. Wanna know how to do it? Remove your IAT (intake air temp) sensor, throw it in the freezer. Take it out, use a multimeter to measure the resistance it produces then goto Radio Shack and buy an equivalent resistor and put it inline with the IAT. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
