Default a great alternative to dynamat and edead

i just brainstormed a idea of how to make our own sheet's of sounds deadening for ther fraction of a cost for a overpriced box of dynamat..and this alternative will be freeze and heat & melt resistent..

what it will require..
1:as many bottle's of silicone or window weld you can get for thy budget
2:caulk gun
3:clean flat surface of any kind..even the garage floor

apply the silicone in a close WWWWW like pattern..then get a vinyl spacking tool and smear it flat into a sheet, don't smear it to thin if you want t thicker sheet..

when done, let it dry and when it's cured in about 2 hour's..simply peel it off
NOTE:Wax paper is heavily recommended here as silicone stick's to what it's cured unless it's slick
BAck to the topic..peel away the cured sheet of silicone or window weld and Boom..instant Homemade Sound deadener!!

use the newly thick cured silicone sheet where ever you want..door's hatche's roof's..use a good strong glue or use 3M double stick tape ..as this will let you take if off and on again..

2 or 3 sheet's on a door panel and even a hyundai accent will slam it's door's like an Azera..
that airlock like Thud sound..

Good thing about this idea like is that it's reliable..since silicone and window weld arent' affected by temperature's since they're cured, they won't melt or shrivel up like asphalt butyl based deader's do,

NOTE:If you want to make a really think sheet of Insulation..try a baking tray..slap on asheet of wax paper..apply as much as you can and level it out..wait for it to cure and use it on a hood to shut the noise's and make the car as quiet as a lexus..

heck, i'd pull out my door panel's and apply about 3 bottle's of siicone on it,

all i gotta do is apply and level with spackle and the door will be vibration proof when it's cured.

Very interesting read...

But instead of making sheets why not apply it directly to the area that you will be putting the sheet on anyway...

IE:
Remove hood...
invert and lay it top side down on some soft surface like carpet or grass (provided its a fine day)...
Get your preffered goop ready and start your squirting (or if your lucky enough like i am use some industrial silicone that comes in a 5L (1gal) tin)...
Even the layer out and put it under a heat lamp (not too close tho) to expediate the curing process...

And there you have it perfect fit sound deadening sheet...

And that air lock sound...
How do i get that, my dad's Sonata has that (sounds soo much classier than my ****ty door slam sound)...

Cheers

yeah but then you have squeeze it,spread it, clean excess crap....and i think it will be around the same price once you buy the dozens of bottles of silicone....this stuff you can put it on just like dynomat...but its a little thinner so you can use a heat gun and mold it to curves very quickly....
