Default heater problem

i have major problems with the heating in my accent. it rarely heats up and i think the temperature difference i notice is just body heat. even with the defroster on i get lukewarm air out of the vents. my friend has the exact same 02 accent as i do and his heater gets plenty warm. any ideas? i'm from arizona and rarely have to mess with heaters so i have no idea where to start.

If you never turn it on the core is probably clogged with crap.

First thing i would check.. thermostat.

How long does it take for your car to 'warm up'? If its over 7 mins with you driving it, then your themostat is stuck open. Just buy a new one and replace. It should only be a few bucks.

I got the feeling me ment the air coming out of the vents and not the car itself. I might have misread that.

what do you mean ME? i'll try and clarify

air comes out of the vents just fine on both hot and cold setting, maybe i dont run the heat right but i set it to take in the outside air, not recirculate. so anyways, air comes out of the vents, its just always cold, even when the defroster is on. i checked the heater hoses and they are hooked up and are in good condition so i don't knwo what i could be.

Or maybe both.

I would've said what you said first. Then the thermostat. I just replaced three of them, so its on my mind.

Your still smarter than me.

If the core is clogged I ment inside of it where the coolant goes. Air would have no problem going thru the system. You might get lucky and some radiator flush could clear it out. If the needle never goes up then do what wilbur said, get a thermostat.
