About how much would it cost to convert auto to manual for a 93 scoupe? I'm making bigger plans among the small. The small = getting the car ready to take on the mods, fixing it up.
id say parts wise from a junkyard your only looking at 200-400 dollars

yeah, im guessing junkyard for parts. I dont want to pay too much for the parts. I'm not total mechanic wise, but i'm guessing that's gonna cost me the most either way. prob. like 1500, haha. Either way, i want my scoupe as a manual. I'll def. have the money this summer working like 60 hour weeks for 18 an hour.. haha
I would try and do it yourself and save that money of yours. well ill give you a list of parts
Tranny (of course)
Shift linkage and shifter assembly
Clutch master and slave cylinders + all hydraulic lines
Clutch pedal assembly
flywheel
clutch
axles if they have diff splines (someone fill in on this)
possibly starter but they may use the same one
maybe a tranny mount but if you get it at a junkyard just get it with the tranny
thats pretty much it if i think of more ill let you know
ive swapped on into an accent and its pretty much the same car

It'd be cheaper, and less of a PITA to just buy another Manual S-coupe instead of making an Auto into a manual. I perfer having an auto tranny because it shifts for me, and I can use my hands to do other things.
Keep the auto, buy a shift kit and a high stall torque converter, an end clutch kit and you won't be dissapointed. They hold a tremendous amount of HP comparable to manuals, and can take a big beatting. I dont know if there's an electro magenetic shift controler for the Hyundai trannys, but they're around. Take that 1500 and spend it upgrading your original tranny. Shooot, dont you like having the option of scratching yourself, drinking something, or even you know, a little car hanky panky wihle driving!?

another thing to research is if the ecu will accept a manual transmission or if it will constantly throw a code. not a major issue but it may be annoying.
the ECU will definitely throw a code. I swapped my LC from auto to manual, the hardest part was getting the auto tranny out because we didn't have a cherry picker. it would of been 10 times easier with a cherry picker. the swap is for novice mechanics, but any average joe can do it. also when i was at the junkyard i got a free 1.6L manual ecu with the tranny, both for 150 dollars, and the tranny didn't come with the fork release or slave cylinder, so i bought those seperate, but the tranny only had about 20,000 miles on it, so it was a steal. Definitely go manual because the automatics just can't hold the power. Unless you talk to APE motorsports and ask them exactly what did they do to beef up that auto tranny in the tiburon. manual is fun to drive too. good luck

well, I get bored driving auto, and scoupes are hard to come by around here, so I'd rather just convert it. What should I do about the ecu throwing a code?
