Default dash repair help needed.

im in the middle of doing some interior work and the car is pretty much gutted. im painting with krylon glossy black fusion paint. anyway, my dash being 11 years old now had some cracks. I used some stuff from Advanced auto which is called plastic weld, and it worked great, however when i sanded it down for painting, i ran into some problems. when sanded down the crack starts to appear again, visually. when painted it just doesnt look flawless. maybe im just asking to much out of the product. anyone have any ideas on how to make the paint look better in this area.
