Default Modifications on a 93 excel

I am looking to put in a new engine. I'm reading through the posts and keep hearing about the Talon/Eclipse/Laser engines. Can I put one of those bad boys into my 93 excel without any hassle or am I going to have to buy a new tranny or something. What modifications am I going to have to put my baby through before she can become a hot racing chick.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

hey man, i have a 91 excel, i'm not too sure about the talon/laser engines but what i'm thinking about doing to mine is putting a 93/94 elantra 2.0L 16 valve DOHC engine in mine with a manual transmission, She'll go like a bat outta hell!

I would think that that would be difficult considering that the excel's have a 1.5L engine that is smaller than the 2.0. Wouldn't you have to custom fit it with new engine mounts and change the tranny. That can be expensive.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

The new Accent has an easy conversion with the 2.0L engine compared to the Excel. I know with the excel you need to fork some money out for that conversion. As for the mitsubishi engines they tend to be pretty easy compared to other cars. I have a friend with a early model Lancer engine in his Excel. Since the 90-94 excels all have the same mitsubishi model engine its much easier to drop in a mitsubishi engine. I have thought about forking it out to put in a eclipse with a turbo. But you know its alot of money...
