Default Gas Mileage

I've been getting crappy gas mileage lately, like maybe 28-30 MPG with my normal driving (75-80) highway.

So I figured I would try a test, I would shift around 2500, and cruzing on the highway less than 3000.

When I filled up It was like 33.4 mpg, I remember getting better mileage when I first got the car, whats the deal?

Winter blend gas tends to yield lower MPG. If you mileage doesn't go back up once the summer blend gas returns then look into some Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner or get them professionally cleaned. Also, gasoline that contains ethanol (E2=2% ethenol, E5=5%, E10=10%) will lower MPG. Look for fuels that don't contain ethanol or have the lower percentage.

at least your getting that, my automatic has never really gotten great gas mileage.

I've been keeping track of my mileage for the last three years and my average for city driving is something like 22-23 mpg. If i'm doing all highway driving it is closer to 28 mpg. Now I don't drive conservatively at all but the 1.5 with a slushbox isn't nearly as efficient as a 1.6 with a manual. Now if I can stay out of boost in the x3 I have 26 mpg in the city which aint too bad for the fuel system i'm running, but in and out of boost i'm lucky to get 18 mpg.

Try your basic things to improve efficiency(regular maintenance items, tire pressures, air and fuel cleanings...) but the biggest way to improve you mileage is with your right foot, which you already know.

Yeah...it seems like autotragic Accents never get good gas mileage, especially in city driving. Over the close to 2 years that I had my Accent, I probably averaged anywhere between 23 and 29 MPG--with mostly highway-ish driving.
It was always great filling my tank (never cost me very much), but it was a great tank if I had gotten 260 miles out of it before the light went on (FYI: for those who have never figured it out, the "low gas" light in the Accent turns on when there are 2.5 Gallons remaining in the 11.9 Gallon tank).

I'm getting between 20 and 22 MPG in the Buick. It's cool cuz it has a display that can show your average MPG, your instant MPG, range on the tank, and all that...it's fun.

i get around thirty in my 07 gs. i would recomend throwing injector cleaner in there every oil change(or every other one, depending on how old your car is) just as a mantianance thing, if you do it regularly your injectors wont get a chance to clog up.
my old Grand prix had a Driving Information Center that told you the average mpg and what you were getting at that very second.

I didn't think about ethanol and winter mix crap, but if there is ethanol in it why the hell is it still 2.74

I'll have to get a bottle of injector cleaner and give that a shot.
